Kit Colours


Clubs must register the colour of its shirts and shorts with their League each season. 


No Player, including the goalkeeper, shall be permitted to wear black or very dark shirts.


Goalkeepers must wear colours which distinguish them from all other Players and the Match Officials.


Player Names


Player names are permitted on the back of shirts in adult football.


Clubs should not include player names/nicknames on shirts in youth football. More detailed guidance can be found here.


Advertising/Sponsorship


Youth Team kits (including match officials) must not include any reference whatsoever to products, services or other activities which could be considered detrimental to the welfare, health or general interest of young persons. 


This includes but is not limited to products/services relating to alcohol (including breweries) or gambling.


Reference to a public house or restaurant may be permissible, unless the establishment primarily or exclusively exists for the supply and consumption of alcohol.


The advertising of tobacco products is strictly prohibited across all age groups.


Other messages


The appearance on, or incorporation in, any item of Clothing, Football Boots or Other Equipment of any distasteful, threatening, abusive, indecent, insulting, discriminatory or otherwise ethically or morally offensive message, or any political or religious message, is prohibited.
