To be considered for funding from the Football Foundation for an Artificial Grass Pitch (3G), a project would need to be either identified as a project in a priority area of need in the Local Football Facility Plans (highlighted locations where investment is to be prioritised to build more facilities) or would need to be a project that demonstrates significant community outcomes through pitch usage.
The Football Foundation are committed to who will benefit from the pitch by increasing access and participation to broader communities from the local area and not just investing in the pitch itself. Typically a community 3G pitch will serve 38 teams during weekday evenings and weekend usage so there would need to be strong links with local clubs and community groups, in addition to fulfilling a full Programme of Use during the daytime slots.
The funding is not a 100% grant towards a project and there would be a need for a contribution from the applicant. The weighting of contribution towards the grant, would be dependent on how well the project will meet the Football Foundation's outcomes as outlined in the application. Before initial conversations are had, the applicant would need to advise where they propose the funding would be sourced and/or raised.
