After you have completed the application and had your identity documents verified, your check goes to the DBS who then send it to the appropriate police force/s to conduct their criminal record/intelligence checks.
The police have a service level agreement with the Government (DBS) that they will complete all of their checks within 60 days. After 60 days, if the checks have not been returned to DBS, First Advantage (the company employed by the FA to administer DBS) will contact the police and ask for the check to be given priority.
Whilst most checks are completed well within the 60 days, it is entirely possible that some checks will take the full amount of time. The FA and County FA have absolutely no influence over the actions of the police or their operational priorities.
For any enquiry about a DBS in progress, please contact First Advantage at fachecks@thefa.com or on their dedicated helpline 0115 969 4618
